Special TIPS:

  • If you planning to order the IGUS-rail, think about the length - a short one for travel (800mm - 1000 mm) - a big one for studio (1200mm - 2000 mm).
  • Also thing about the tripod two tripods for long rails are best.
  • When you build up some plastic or wood blocks under the rail you can make  good shoots from the flour.
  • If you will use heavy ca meras thin about a bigger rail-system - look at the IGUS website (i use this slider with a canon eos 7d on a rig with matte-box and follow focus and have no problems)

NO Warranty:

be carefully wenn you slide to the end of the rail. Maybe you build in a bold on each end of the rail - to stop the shuttle plate. A M8 30-40mm bold is a good choice.

All instructions of this tutorial are without warranty and if you build a camera slider with my tutorial i am NOT responsible for anything what you do with the slider. This is a privat instruction and i am NOT liable for any loss.

Great setup. I have been looking around at DIY setups and this is the most robust. Sure it is more expensive than others, but it looks like it is worth the money (and the long length is available when you need it with a long rail). Thanks for posting the links to amazon for the components too. Everyone that posts ebay links are no good within 3 months. Best of luck on future projects.

Für irgendwas vernüftiges mußte doch die kasperei mit dem Rüttelsieb doch gut sein.
Schade, das meine alphas nicht filmen können. Aber vieleicht ist ja ein Macroschlitten drin. ;-)
Motor wäre natürlich fein.

For those of you who don't want to sound close to $200 for a video head to put on your glider, I have heard very good things about the
Weifeng 717ah, available from the EPPhotoInc store on eBay for about $85. Cowboy studio has one called an EI717H, but it doesn't have the Weifeng name in the photo. If you google it, you will find several favorable mentions, and save a hundred bucks.
EPhoto also has replacement plates for about $14.

UK Prices..indeed.seems a bit unfair...and excessive...I bought mine (100cm rail) from igus.co.uk and cost me £205 with the VAT...that's around double the cost!...it works well though...
Thanks for taking the time Friedhelm...

I can't buy the slider from ingus.eu.. only ingus.com (us) sells it but they won't ship it to europe. And ingus.eu only sells them to business people.

Danke!
